featuring Paul Potenza and Christopher Marshall
THE ELEPHANT MAN, a harrowing look at the life of Joseph Merrick, born with severe bodily deformity in late 19th century London. Under the care of celebrated young physician Frederick Treves, Merrick is introduced to London society and slowly evolves from an object of pity to an urbane and witty favorite of the aristocracy and literati, only to be denied his ultimate dream — to become a man like any other. From a Broadway production winning Best Play, attracting the likes of stars such as Mark Hamill and David Bowie, to a popular Oscar winning film directed by David Lynch, to a recent Broadway revival starring Bradley Cooper – actors and audiences alike continue to be spellbound by Merrick’s story. TampaRep’s production features Christopher Marshall (Copenhagen at TampaRep, Hedda at Jobsite Theater) and Paul Potenza (Annapurna, Edgar And Emily at Jobsite Theater), and will be directed by Stuart Fail (Hedda at Jobsite Theater).
