Monday – Friday, June 13-17, 6:30 P.M. – 9:30, Michael Chekhov Technique (Dan Granke)
Learn about the acting technique of Michael Chekhov, one of Stanislavski’s greatest pupils, and one of the great actors in world history. Chekhov’s approach to character creation and storytelling is energetic and highly physical. Learn to explore text physically and create fun and dynamic characters through the famous psychological gesture.

Ultimately the words are what is at play in Shakespeare. Learn to scan the text, and read it in a manner where the text and the acting meld together. Explore breath options, argument construction, and word choice to clarify the text and ensure audience comprehension. Examine the rhythms inherent in the text to find keys to creating texture and internal life.

Teaching Staff:
Dan Granke is an expert in acting, theatrical movement, and stage combat. He is a Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors, and has studied with The Center for Movement Theatre, National Michael Checkov Association, and the Celebration Barn. He holds an MFA in Movement Pedagogy and currently serves on faculty at the University of South Florida. He is one of the founders and current Producing Artistic Director of the Tampa Shakespeare Festival.
